Scott Cam, winner of the 2014 Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter and the 2014 Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian TV, will be the guest host at a fabulous Gala Dinner and Fundraising Auction, to be held at Mt Panorama Pit Complex on Saturday 21st March, commencing at 6:30 PM.
This exciting event is a major fundraiser for the Bathurst Panorama Chorus who will be representing Australia in the Sweet Adelines International Harmony Classic Division A (Small Chorus) Competition, which will be held in Las Vegas in October 2015. The Harmony Classic is the international finals for small and mid-sized choruses, with only the top five, highest-scoring choruses being eligible to compete in either division.
In an Australian first, Bathurst Panorama Chorus came away from the 2014 national Sweet Adelines Competition, held in Sydney, not only as overall silver medallists, but Australian Small Chorus Champions. Bathurst Panorama’s score ranked them in first place in their division worldwide, ahead of 191 small choruses. The chorus’ performance in Las Vegas will be the second time that this talented acappella group will be representing Australia, having placed fourth in the 2007 Harmony Classic competition, in San Antonio, Texas.
Established in 1991, Bathurst Panorama Chorus is a member of Sweet Adelines International; a highly respected worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education, competition and performance.
This independent, non profit music education association is one of the world's largest singing organizations for women. Geographically, there are more than 550 choruses and 1,200 quartets located throughout the United States and 14 other nations across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and United Arab Emirates.
Spear-heading Bathurst Panorama Chorus’ preparation for the international stage is their Musical Director, Tracey Cam, who was “thrilled” not only with the chorus’ performance at a national level last year, but their world-topping qualification and work ethic.
“Our chorus members are ordinary women from all walks of life, united by a love of singing and a drive to be the best they can be. I believe they are truly extraordinary and I’m so proud of our achievements thus far” says Mrs Cam.
Attendees at the Gala Dinner will enjoy canapés and champagne on arrival and a sumptuous three-course dinner. Overseen by Scott Cam, there will be a fundraising auction in which you can bid for four major items. These include an all-expenses paid exclusive tour of the Melbourne set of The Block , for two lucky bidders, with ‘Scotty’ himself; two nights’ accommodation to Uluru, staying at the Sails in The Desert resort (flights inclusive); four (x4) Premium centreline tickets to the Bledisloe Cup Rugby game at ANZ stadium on August 8th 2015, and a Fast Track Motor Sport Experience with a V8 Super Drive and Ride with a professional race car driver. Attendees may be even be lucky enough to open a beer with Scotty’s Gold Logie, which he has equipped with a stubbie opener: “When we have a BBQ, she comes out and we open beers with her. She looks great!” says Cam.
